First and foremost, we want to acknowledge that gentrification is a systemic issue. It is not a problem that one, or even many, business owners alone can solve. However, we believe there is strength in taking small steps to establish better standards for how food, beverage, and hospitality businesses operate.
This toolkit was written with independent food, beverage, and hospitality business owners in mind. However, its strategies are easily adaptable for multi-unit even chain businesses.
Most strategies listed will require decision-making authority, but that does not mean you must be an owner to use this toolkit! We recommend managers and workers utilize the “Why Do This?” blurbs in each section as a pitch to your employer.
